Terms of Use

Last updated 3 November 2026

In short: schools subscribe to Ednaro and stay in charge of their records. Everyone with an account keeps their password safe and uses Ednaro only for school purposes. We keep the service running, protect the data, and hand a school its records back if it leaves. How personal data is handled is set out in our Privacy Policy.

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms apply to schools that subscribe to Ednaro ("the school") and to everyone who uses an Ednaro account the school gives them: staff, parents and guardians, and students. By creating or using an account you agree to them. If a school has signed a separate agreement or order form with Ednaro, that agreement takes precedence where the two differ.

2. The service

Ednaro helps schools run attendance, scores and report cards, fees, quizzes, announcements and related work. We improve it over time and may change or retire features. If a change would take away something a school relies on, we will give reasonable notice.

3. Accounts

  • Accounts are created by, or on behalf of, the school. The school decides who has access and what role they have, and should remove access for people who leave.
  • Keep your password to yourself and use two-factor authentication where Ednaro asks for it. Tell your school straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
  • You are responsible for what is done through your account.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use Ednaro to:

  • access records you are not meant to see, or try to get around its security;
  • upload anything unlawful, harmful, or that you have no right to share;
  • harass anyone, or send messages that are not about school matters;
  • disrupt the service, or copy, resell or reverse-engineer it.

We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and will tell the school when we do.

5. The school's responsibilities

  • The school owns the records it puts into Ednaro and is responsible for them being accurate and collected lawfully, including getting any consent from parents or guardians that the law requires.
  • Report cards, results and fee records are the school's own. Ednaro works out totals, grades and positions from the scores and settings the school enters, and the school should check them before publishing.
  • AI-drafted report comments are suggestions. A member of staff must review each one before it is published.

6. Fees and payments

  • The school pays Ednaro the subscription for its plan, as agreed when it signed up. If a subscription or bill is seriously overdue, staff accounts become read-only until it is paid, except the accounts of those who manage the school's subscription. Staff can still see everything. Parents and students keep access to what they already have.
  • Parents pay school fees directly to the school, using the payment instructions the school publishes in Ednaro. Ednaro does not receive, hold or process school fees; it records and tracks the payments the school confirms. The fee itself is between the parent and the school; refunds and disputes about school fees are for the school to settle.

7. How we handle a school's data

For the personal data a school keeps in Ednaro, the school is the data controller and Ednaro is its data processor under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Ednaro will:

  • process the data only to provide Ednaro to the school, and on the school's instructions;
  • make sure our staff and contractors who can access it are bound by confidentiality;
  • keep appropriate technical and organisational security measures in place;
  • use only the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy, bound by terms that protect the data, and tell schools before adding a new one;
  • help the school respond to requests from parents, students and staff exercising their rights;
  • tell the school without undue delay after becoming aware of a breach affecting its data;
  • when the agreement ends, let the school export its records, then delete them within 90 days unless the law requires otherwise;
  • give the school the information it reasonably needs to show it is meeting its own obligations.

8. Availability and backups

We work to keep Ednaro available and to protect against data loss, including regular backups. Like any online service it may occasionally be unavailable, for example for maintenance. We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as network or power failures.

9. Ownership

The school keeps all rights in its records. Ednaro keeps all rights in the software, design and brand. The school gives us permission to host and process its records only to provide the service.

10. Limits of our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, Ednaro is not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to a school for any claim is limited to the subscription fees the school paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Ending the service

A school can stop using Ednaro at the end of its subscription period. We may end or suspend a school's access for serious or repeated breach of these terms, or non-payment, after giving notice. Either way, the school can export its records before they are deleted (section 7).

12. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will tell schools before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
